T'Chaka was the late king of Wakanda, the former Black Panther, and the father of King T'Challa and Princess Shuri.

Early Life

As the Black Panther and King of Wakanda, T'Chaka sent his brother N'Jobu to America to watch over unnoticed. However, during his tenure, T'Chaka discovered that a portion of vibranium was stolen by Ulysses Klaue and that N'Jobu was responsible thanks to his aide Zuri. He travelled to Oakland, where N'Jobu explained that he needed the vibranium to help the oppressed black people rise up. T'Chaka, upset that N'Jobu was exposing Wakanda's secrets, killed N'Jobu and left N'Jobu's son Erik Stevens behind.

Back in Wakanda, T'Chaka trained his son T'Challa to be his successor as both the Black Panther and king of Wakanda. When the Sokovia Accords became known, T'Chaka travelled to Vienna with T'Challa at his side, but T'Chaka was ultimately slain in an explosion caused by Helmut Zemo.

How Black Panther Should Have Ended

T'Challa kills N'Jobu, but is told by Zuri not to leave Erik Stevens behind. T'Chaka then takes Stevens under his wing.
